Kaishin
Robert Kaishin Bondy began his Zen training with a trip to Zen Mountain Monastery in 1997. After maintaining a home practice for several years, Kaishin began traveling to the Toledo Zen Center in 2004 (now the Buddhist Temple of Toledo). He took the precepts in 2010 as part of the sangha's first Jukai ceremony. He is a shoken student of the Reverends Jay Rinsen Weik and Karen Do'on Weik, who empowered him as a practice leader in 2010, authorizing him to give beginning instruction in zazen. Kaishin and Enmei founded Northern Sky Zen Community (formerly the Amherstburg Meditation Group) in 2010. Kaishin continues to be an active member of the Toledo sangha, travelling south for sesshin (intensive retreat) and community practice on a regular basis.
Enmei
Julie Enmei Bondy began her Zen training through home practice with her husband Kaishin in 1997. She was empowered as a practice leader in 2010 by her teachers, the reverends Jay Rinsen Weik and Karen Do'on Weik, authorizing her to give beginning instruction in zazen. Enmei and Kaishin founded Northern Sky Zen Community (formerly the Amherstburg Meditation Group) in 2010. She took the precepts in 2013 and continues to be an active member of the Toledo sangha, travelling south for sesshin (intensive retreat) and community practice on a regular basis.
